Carlo's Bakery











After four days of sugar while photographing at Carlo's, I'm happy to be sugar-free today. It was amazing to watch first hand how they work - beyond the creation I was there to document, the bakery is spinning around trying to keep up with the line out front - the wedding cakes, birthday cakes, just because cakes, the thousands of cannolis, cookies, the book signings, etc - all while keeping a smile on their faces. And just when you think it cannot get any crazier a celebrity stops in and everyone needs a photo. Sometimes they forget they are celebrities too, but when they step outside for some air or to load a delivery, there are fans standing by waiting and no matter what, they let a photo or 10 be taken. All in a day's work. I think a lot of people could take a cue on how to run a business from this family... no wonder they have a TV show!
