Santa Rita Mines
We spent the afternoon in the diamond mine and I cannot figure out how it is cost effective to keep it open. They find 4-5 diamonds a day worth approximately $300 US Dollars each. With 15 people working at all times and the water and electricity... I ask why. In the second photo on the stick is the diamond they found just before we arrived. Seriously, look at how small. How they find them is amazing. He placed it back on the stones and for me it just disappeared into the mix, but for him, it was right there. Incredible. The next two days are for a festival in Igatu then we head back to Salvador. I'm not looking forward to the long drive but it will be wonderful to walk on a flat surface again.
