On a whim, and out of boredom, I drove up to Syracuse for the NY State Fair and Demolition Derby. This was my first Derby so I wasn't quite prepared for the mud and heat but had SO much fun! I was surprised and happy to find 2 women driving – Tyranny (below) from Castorland and Amanda from Elmira. She's only been competing for two years and already won her local and ended up in 8th place of about 30 cars at the Championship. Pretty impressive! Everyone I spoke to has had the Derby in their family for as long as they knew, so I was surprised to find out this does not run in her family, she just grew up watching and and decided to try it.
