If you get lost...

an Ernest eel and and a Nasty catch.

A quick stop on N.5th turned into lots of laughter once again. Two guys I'm unfamiliar with, Ernest and Chris, were holding down the rails. Ernest had just brought in the Eel which was drawing a lot of attention from the touristas. Chris snagged the Nasty while everyone was watching, I'm sure he wished it was something more, so to make it fun he shocked folks from the shorted out lamp pole at the end. He told them it was the fish causing the shock, Electric Nasty!  Shrieks, squeals and some serious chuckles and I was on my way. Lot's of excitement for the upcoming Derby, new faces and many questions, I suppose I should make it to a meeting so I know the answers next time.

goofin' in Greenpoint

One year ago today, Margo and I were out shooting and enjoying the night. Right now (delayed again) she is going into Surgery #5 this afternoon, hopefully the grand finale of surgeries and she's on her way to recovery. What a trip this has been...

We weren't anywhere but out there fishing.

Somewhere along the East River for the start of the Fishing Derby trying to grab that first catch of the season but all we caught was a lot of wind. Tropical Storm Nicole threatened to drench us all day but never did - just whipped us with wind that at times felt like we might get tossed right off the pier into the river. That didn't happen but the coppers did make us go, thankfully, they like pizza.

No Diving.

I've become a bit of a water bug again after traveling along the beautiful waters of the Gulf, so when riding home last night this city pool was calling me and I seriously looked for a way in. Perfectly still empty waters. During the daytime hours the pools are full to the brim with kids and parents of kids, and as much as I'd like to take a swim, that doesn't interest me at all... but this empty pool, screams come in!

Madness.

What was in the air last night? It all started nicely, on a beach, looking at the city. Tossed. Now what. We wandered through the city, down Manhattan ave into the madness of Bedford and N. 7th. This is not the same Williamsburg of my time in the hood. One corner, so many people, seemed all of them wanted their photograph taken so I obliged. Who wouldn't. The whole mess of the night is on flickr, clickity-click-it, share and comment away. Just another Friday night.

es bueno que entiendo espaƱol

doesn't mean I can speak it. it took a minute but she understood and allowed a photo... no face of course. I admire those that sort through our 'recycling' and snag the bottles, cans, returnables. Back home we begged to take the returnables for a few extra dollars on the weekend... here, I pass them on. Seems crazy but even after 12 years I only know one store that takes returnables. Now there is a picture, me with my $1 and the 'collectors' with $75+ worth of bottles.
