There are hungry people in most parks,
this park has very full pigeons and rats.

Irene.

She hasn't hit us yet, at least 6 hours away, but we are hanging in a cloudy wet purgatory. The rain has picked up and the wind whips but nothing like what is expected. Currently it looks like any other rain storm with 8am being our "eye" time, I'm betting by 4am it will get messy. We've laughed at the rain today and tomorrow i'm guessing we'll be glad we did. Here she comes! Irene.

Grillin in the Park.

Fort Greene Park, June 2011

I cannot remember their names, and they probably don't remember mine, but I was fascinated with their smiles. Sparkling with gold and diamonds in the sunlight, reminiscent of Lil Wayne's mouth of glitter. They are up-and-coming in the music industry, recording under what I recall was a really long name that needed to be shortened to about 3 letters to help my memory (yeah that worked)... but I'm betting this isn't the last time you see their smiles.

R.I.P. Dorris.

"I hope the day has been Fun, Fun, Fun and if not, go out and get some." - Dorris

I just found out this amazing woman, Dorris Gaines Golomb, died in late September. (NYT obit.) I photographed her last May and printed the portrait to bring to her right away. Well, time passed and now so has she, with the photo still sitting on my desk. She was a beautiful spirit that will be missed in Fort Greene.

Fort Greene Associations post on Dorris.

Hey Joe.

He tells me he's a cheap date and that more people like his belt buckle then they do him.

I've always noticed all the memorials that pop-up around the city, only recently have I photographed them. I'm surprised at how long some of them have been tended to.
---
Jesse Tompkins - 08/05/2008, who was just jogging peacefully down the street when he was hit by a car on Myrtle Ave.

08/04/2008 - I've heard rumors about what happened at this corner last week, but I do not know more then his family misses him. There were a lot of tears and music, when they were done they took the memorial with them.

Markita Weaver - 03/09/2005 she was hit by a sanitation truck while playing in a snow bank...

10/04/2006 - Red Hook

This was also in Red Hook, not sure if it was a memorial or just recycling...
