along the road

I'm having a hard time keeping the photography up while working every day. Just another reason to stay poor, creative happiness. I plan to take off into Pennsylvania this weekend so who knows what I'll come up with. The photo above is from the drive down to AC. The not-so-crazy AC trip that felt absolutely crazy to me.

Atlantic City

The sun was out and the air was warm so we took off to AC. 4 Wheels, 6 Cameras and the 3 of us off towards the shore. Too bad the most interesting part was the drive - and of course, mister Gaaaahd Dammmm! I wish I had seen AC before the big casinos, before the piped in music, before the loudspeakers telling me to gamble while trying to enjoy the air, before it all... I moslty just found it sad. Oh well. We had a great time laughing and taking it all in. More pics to come soon.

The detour off Route 22, which of course led to the wrong turn, was to Hellertown. I knew nothing of Hellertown, nor why I was going there. I was just intrigued that all these signs kept popping up letting me know where it was and how far... but not why. So I went the 3 miles down the single road to see what the hell was Hellertown. Just a small town with a BIG yellow sign that screamed CAVE TURN LEFT. So I did. I drove right by the place before I realized it, turned around and still wasn't sure I was there. Only signs for a Gem Shop and Souvenirs. I had to use the restroom so I went in and turned into a sucker and took the tour. It was a cave. With a wedding alter in case you care to get married in the cold. Some bad lighting. And lot's of dumbed down commentary for the kids. Should of saved the $10. But check out that foliage with dinosaurs!!! oooh. love it.

Driving through Jersey on Route 22 wasn't all that interesting to photograph. I found it sad that so much of it looked just like everywhere else - Dunkin Donuts, 7-11s, pretty much strip mall hell. It wasn't until I was cruising along on I-78 that I spotted the above place, Bethlehem Graveyard, which isn't in, nor near Bethlehem, but somewhere between a bunch of small towns near Pattenburg. There isn't much information that I can find. Just a ruin of an old stone church that obviously was left years ago yet the small cemetery on the side is tended too. Flags in place. Looking closer, all three headstones are for the children of RJ & Alice Killgore. All died young, two in the same year. Time to start doing some research!
